Technical specifications
The Scandinavian Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa (SCCAP) is a biobank of living algae. Presently it comprises more than 1000 strains  with representatives from most algal divisions. Nearly 900 are available to the public.

Use of equipment
SCCAP provide an extensive supply of cultures for research and various courses at the Biology Department, but is also a public service collection that sell cultures and culture media to other research institutions, schools and companies.

SCCAP also provides consultancy within identifification, isolation and culturing of microalgae.

SCCAP is also a TAF facility (taxonomic access facility) under the European Union Programme Synthesys.

Target group
Everyone have access to the Collection, but only researchers within the Biology Department at University of Copenhagen obtain cultures free of charge.
